- We may have installed different types of antivirus like Windows
Defender or a third party Antivirus
software or an Internet
Security Suite to protect the system. Whatever the
antivirus is used. We must be sure that it must be work properly or not.
- For testing our AV system working properly or not,
please follow the following steps.
- Go to any text editor.
- Copy the following code and save as with .exe
extension.
- X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
- Then suddenly after creating exe
files or during scanning this test file if the antivirus detects this
file as virus, then it means that our antivirus is working well. But if
this test file is not detected as virus then it means that our antivirus
is not working well.
Note:This test file is taken from EICAR(European Institute for Computer Antivirus
Research). EICAR
provides a standardized test file for signature based virus detection software.
