Cause and symptoms:
- This is due to corrupted navigation pane setting file -profilename.xml, where "profile name" is the name of your Outlook profile.
- Another symptom of this problem is obvious and can be easily recognized i.e, When you click on the Outlook icon, Outlook is hanging for a while and then you get "Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook" error.
- When you run Outlook in compatibility mode, if you are using a profile created in older version of Outlook or PST file gets deleted or damage. In all the mentioned cases Outlook can create a problem thus printing the message " unable to open Microsoft Outlook".
So What is the Possible Solution....?
- Delete navigation pane configuration file.
- Turn off Compatibility mode in Outlook.
- Recover the Navigation Pane Configuration file.
- Repair your Outlook PST file using an "Inbox Repair tool".
- Restore the Previous Version of the PST file.
- Open Outlook in "Safe Mode".
The easiest and the fastest method among the above is the solution no 1. lets try it.
- Start menu and type “%appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook”
- Folder will open which contains ms outlook configuration files.
- Search and Delete the Outlook XML file.
- Delete the navigation file only when the recover option is not working.
